Another Central American livebearer and a firm favourite with it's hardy nature and pleasant temperament. Growing to 5 - 6cm it prefers moderate temperatures 18 - 24C and a hardish alkaline and brackish water pH 7 - 7.5
As with other livebearers Females tend to be slightly larger than males. Also available in a wide range of colours from Black through speckled to Silver and even Orange. There is also a wide variety of body shapes and finnage, with sail-fins and Lyre Tails being amongst the most popular
As with all livebearers the sexual differences are obvious and females give birth about every 28 - 30 days. Best kept as 2 females to every 1 male.
As noted above Mollies need brackish water to be at their best. Indeed they have long been used my marine keepers to cycle their saltwater aquariums
