Pond Liners

Tropicals carry a wide range pre-packaged liners in sizes from 2M x 2.5M
(6' x 8') to 8M x 8M (26' x 26'). For those who need something
bigger it is also available off-the-roll in 6M, 8M and 10M widths and
lengths up to 50M. All liners carry a 25 Year guarantee against UV
degradation. We also stock Polyester underlay which offers
excellent protection against accidental damage from stones and roots.
Perhaps the most frequently asked question is "what size of liner do
I require?", followed closely by "How much water does my pond hold?".
In answer to the first question the formula is very simple:
Length of Liner = length of pond + twice
the depth* + at least 6" each end for overlap.
Width of Liner = width of pond + twice the depth* + at
least 6" each side for overlap
* Note Depth is the deepest point in the
pond, even if its only a very small area of the whole pond
The capacity of a pond is calculated as follows
length x width x depth in feet x 6.25
= gallons ... multiplied by 4.5 = litre
length x width x depth in metre x 1000 = litre ...
divided by 4.5 = gallons
