The Abyss
This is a shot taken at the very outer edge of the reef were the
edge of the island drops to the seabed 40 - 50 metres below.
As I noted previously, all the hard corals and most of the soft
corals are found in the top few feet of water. Although the water is
crystal clear and I could see right down to the seabed, the light
does not penetrate well and the near vertical walls are largely
barren.
