Nowadays, as with Tropical species, all Marine
fish which we offer for sale are from internationally regulated and
sustainable sources. Many, such as the clown fish, are actually tank
breed, while others, sometimes described as "wild caught", are in
reality from managed reefs something akin to free-range fish farms. The
same is also true for Corals which are now cultured in an eco-friendly
way rather than being plundered from the natural reefs.
Bluefin Centropyge Multispinnis
The
Bluefin Angelfish is also referred to as the Dusky Angelfish*, or Dusky
Cherub It is a blackish-blue "dusky" colour, with lighter blue marbling
on the dorsal, caudal, and anal fins; and a thin, sapphire-blue outline
on the anal and caudal fins.
A good sized tank of 180 ltr or above is recommended and lots of
hiding places and live rock for grazing will provide a good environment. The smaller the aquarium, the more aggressive the Bluefin Angelfish
will be. Not really "Reef Safe" the Bluefin Angelfish is known to
nip at sessile invertebrates, Corals and Clams.
It is hermaphroditic and has no distinguishable differences in colour
between male to female. It has been breed in the aquarium but it
is very difficult to achieve. Anyone wishing to keep a pair in the
hope of breeding should introduce two young specimens together. It is
highly unlikely that an older fish would tolerate another dwarf angel,
let alone one of the same species.
It's diet should include a good
variety off marine algae, Mysis and frozen shrimps, and other meaty
fare. Generally easy to feed they adapt well to life in the aquarium and
live for many years.
