Livestock

Naturally enough the heart of our business, for without it there would be little point in setting up an aquarium. We believe it is also our greatest asset, and one which we have carefully nurtured for almost 4 decades.  We are fiercely proud of our reputation for having the best livestock anywhere in the country, all the more so because it is the result of hard work and dedication.

All our fish are quarantined before being offered for sale. This may vary from only a few weeks for some species to many months for more delicate specimens, during which time they are continuously monitored for health and acclimatisation.   "Is it not horrendously expensive?" is the question we are often ask and the answer is of course "Yes".  We actually have dedicated staff who spend most of their time in quarantine and are rarely seen in the Shop. The results however speak for themselves, happy and healthy fish, and satisfied customers.

Because we take the welfare of our livestock so seriously we do not sell any Fish or Amphibians on-line or mail-order.  We do from time-to-time advertise particular specimens such as large Koi or Stingrays etc which we have in stock, but these are only for sale direct and in person from our shop.

We are always happy to welcome children and young people to our shop, whether it be to buy fish for their aquariums, or simply to look and enjoy. However we do not sell livestock to minors unless they are accompanied by a responsible adult.  Similarly we expect adults to supervise their children at all times. No animal likes to be startled by children slapping on the glass or banging on the aquarium lids, so please remember at all times, look, but don't touch.!
